Community Celebrates Brookside Restaurant and Bar Grand Re-Opening

Foodies of Rancho Cordova, rejoice. You may have noticed a familiar location in town has received a major face lift, and is now open for business. Brookside Restaurant and Bar, most recently known as Rascal’s, is an elegant, comfortable restaurant and bar that is perfect for family dinners, date nights, or cocktails after work.

Fran Bishop, the executive chef and general manager of Brookside, is bringing her experience and passion, quite literally, to the table. In addition to an array of delicious entrees such as burgers, roasted salmon, New York steak, and short ribs, Brookside will also be featuring a number of impressive drink specials.

happy hourMonday night football will get even tastier as Brookside will be serving two appetizers for the price of one from 4 till 7 p.m. As the weather cools, try spending your Wednesday evening enjoying a free cup of tomato soup courtesy of Brookside. On Thursday and Saturday, join Brookside for Prohibition Night from 4-7 p.m. Combat the recession with Depression era pricing; your first glass of wine or your first martini is only $.99.

Fran BishopWith a grand re-opening on Thursday, October 29, the community was finally able to enjoy the luxurious dining room, well manicured gardens, and delicious meals. With plentiful space for banquets, Brookside is able to accommodate professional business lunches and romantic weddings alike. Members of City Council, Supervisor Don Nottoli, and the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce were on hand to celebrate the re-opening of a Rancho Cordova classic. The atmosphere of the evening was helped by the never-ending trays of complimentary appetizers and drinks.

The location known today as Brookside Restaurant was originally a guest house for the American River Winery, run by the Silva family in 1911. The winery was renamed The Silva Brothers Winery after a 1919 fire burned down the original buildings and the sons took over the business after their father’s death. The winery was highly successful until 1930, when federal agents forced its closure for violating the laws of Prohibition.

During the middle of the century, the last incarnation of The Silva Brothers Winery was the Brookside Winery, of which the current restaurant and bar is named.  For nearly 100 years, Brookside has been a destination for eating and drinking in the Rancho Cordova area.

Whether you’re planning a football get together, an anniversary dinner, or a wedding reception, stop by Brookside and prepare to be impressed.

Brookside is conveniently located at 9819 Horn Rd.
