Sac State Business Students Strike Gold at Job Fair
Searching for a job can be tedious, tiresome work. When you’re strapped for time because you’re attending college classes and balancing homework, the job search can become down right unmanageable. That’s when a group of students from the Sacramento State Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi, a Professional Business Fraternity come in.
The business job fair held in the CSUS ballroom on Tuesday saw 350 of students come in, resumes in hand. There had been announcements in the classrooms the week prior and flyers had been distributed across campus. Students were even able to win a variety of prizes as well as meet the staff from many local businesses. Kaplan donated a test preparation course scholarship worth a whopping $1200-$1800, depending on the test. Primerica donated a free student financial consultation and there were various other prizes including gift cards to local businesses.
This is the 10thsemester the CSUS Delta Sigma Pi chapter has been providing students with an easily accessible
resource for employment by organizing the job fair. This year, however, they added a little something extra in the form of a lunch time fashion show. The fashion show was sponsored by Kohl’s and Cookie Lee Jewelry and highlighted the what to wear and what not to wear in the business world.
Just under 20 companies were represented at the job fair and all were hiring. Many companies were seeking interns and others were offering paid positions.
In a period of uncertain future employment, the job fair’s theme quote by Milton Berle, “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door” was highly appropriate. The career resource center is also available to students looking for an internship or employment.

What an amazing story? It is inspiring to those who are still looking college, or not, that there is hope and companies hiring. I was lucky enough to be drawn for the Kaplan prep course and will be sure to attend the Spring semesters fair with even higher expectations.
