“Two Events . . . One Historic Day” is the title of the 2nd annual Rancho Cordova State of the City event on Friday, November 6th in the American River Room in the Rancho Cordova City Hall, 2729 Prospect Park Drive. The event is co-sponsored by the City of Rancho Cordova, the Cordova Community Council and the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce.

The first event at 7:30 a.m. will be an Economic Forum Power Breakfast featuring Kelly Brothers, financial advisor with Genovese Burford & Brothers investment firm. Also on the program will be a panel of industry experts that will include Kevin Ramos, head of Buzz Oates Enterprises Commercial Real Estate Division; Tammy Browning, Vice President of Product Information Technology Solutions for Kelly Services; and Curt Haven, Economic Development Director for the City of Rancho Cordova.

“Rancho Cordova has a stable economy because it has a diverse business base, including education, insurance, health, cleantech, and industry. We will address how the City’s Economic Development Department is building on this unique foundation,” said Haven.

“The State of the City” speech will be presented by Rancho Cordova Mayor Dan Skoglund at the second portion, a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. The Mayor will recap his tenure and what the City faces in the coming year.

In between the two sessions, there will be free breakout sessions beginning at 10 a.m. One option will be a tour of City Hall and the site of the future Sacramento Children’s Museum next to City Hall. Another session will cover the inclusion of Rancho Cordova as a new Enterprise Zone. This is a designation by the State of California to provide special tax incentives local businesses. Participating on the panel will be experts from three area tax firms: Rex Halverson of Rex Halverson and Associates; Sidney Singleton of Wincentive Corporation; and Albert Romo of Romo and Associates. The third session will be a discussion of SMUD’s SEED (Supplier Education and Economic Development) Program, led by Lori Okamoto, SEED Supplier Diversity Advocate. SEED benefits rate-paying small businesses. In addition, various businesses will have displays in the lobby throughout the events.

Tickets are $35 for one event or $60 for both events and can be ordered online or purchased at the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce office, 2729 Prospect Park Drive

“The state of the economy is the dominant issue everywhere, from the national news down to the corner gas station,” said Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce CEO Jane Daly. “We will take a look at how Rancho Cordova business fits into this picture and how citizens of the City are impacted.”

For additional information, the public may contact the Chamber at (916) 273-5688.
