The Sacramento Children’s Museum held its groundbreaking event on Oct. 21, and families from all over the Sacramento area showed up to get a sneak peak at what the museum will have to offer.
Jamba Juice, Radio Disney and the Rancho Cordova Police Department all showed their support for the event, and the museum set up several exhibits for children to explore. Parents could also buy art kits for their children at the event; the museum will feature a permanent display of the artwork created from the art kits.
The museum also gave families the opportunity to sign up for the Cirque du SCM, a fundraiser that will be held on Nov. 5 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Suede Blue Restaurant in Roseville. The fundraiser will feature live performers, complimentary beer and wine, and a silent auction hosted by KHTK Talk Show Host Jim Kozimor. Tickets for the event cost $75 and can be purchased on their website.
The museum is set to open at 2701 Prospect Park Drive across from City Hall in early 2010. Donations to the museum can be made here, and the first 500 individual donors who donate $500 or more will have be memorialized at the museum in an artistic display, as will the first 500 business or organization donors.

The Sacramento Children’s Museum will become one of the landmark amenities of the City of Rancho Cordova. Hopefully this will become a catalyst for new efforts in the arts in our city.
