Five Local Businesses Honored with Future 5 Award
In 2007, The Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce began recognizing local businesses for their contribution to the community and personal achievements. There is one honoree in each of five categories every year. The categories include: Emerging Markets, Hospitality, Non-Profit, Retail and Technology. The winners of the 2009 Future 5 awards will be recognized at the third annual Future 5 event on November 5th at the Sacramento Marriott in Rancho Cordova.
This year, The Rancho Cordova Post was selected as the Future 5 winner in the Emerging Market division. Red Hawk Casino won the Hospitality award and My Sister’s House was the leading Non-Profit. Ikea was the winner of the retail award and Comtek won the technology division award.
Last years’ winners included Drexel University (emerging market), Health Education Council (nonprofit), Video Vision Marketing (technology), House of Fashion (retail) and Mikuni (hospitality). Winners from the inaugural year included Crazy Mary’s Boutique, Mason’s, 3fold Communications, Konicom Inc., and Midtown Grid.
Businesses are nominated and selected based on qualifications that the SACC sets forth. Future 5 honorees exemplify “professional achievements, determination and admirable work promoting the Sacramento business community”.
When asked about the outlook of the Future 5 events, Karen Nelson, Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce Director of Events and Sponsorship, says “We are definitely planning on continuing this in the future. We’ve seen a great response”.
