Gravel Truck Overturns, Blocks Traffic on Sunrise

A big rig hauling two trailers full of gravel overturned Monday morning on Sunrise Blvd. The truck was traveling north bound on Sunrise, north of Highway 50, when it crashed and ran in to a tree. The second trailer over turned, spilling gravel across the roadway blocking traffic.

Two of the three northbound lanes are closed and traffic is moving very slowly. CHP is encouraging drivers to take Hazel Avenue and are estimating Sunrise to be fully cleared around 2 o’clock this afternoon.

The accident is under investigation, and at this point, no other vehicles are reported as being involved.
