Bottlecap Magnets

Buying a small bottlecap magnet for $10 can equal half of a brand new pair of shoes for a homeless student in enrolled at a FCUSD school.

Project 680, a local effort aimed at helping homeless children in practical ways, now has a unique bottlecap magnet available for a $10 donation. The bottlecaps are produced by  www.bottlecapmagnets.com and are filled with a high quality resin similar to glass. All proceeds from the bottlecaps will go toward Project 680’s shoe drive.

The project’s shoe drive aims to raise $1,500 to provide 100 new pairs of shoes to the area’s homeless students. Project 680 is accepting money instead of shoe donations so the students will be able to pick out the shoes of their choice at Payless Shoe Source. They are currently accepting cash, checks and Payless gift cards; checks should be made out to the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership and sent to 10267 Croydon Way, Rancho Cordova, Calif., 95670.

The shoe drive will finish off with a bike ride starting in Hagan Park on Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. The Rancho Cordova Post will be providing orange juice for the event, Starbucks at Capital Village will be providing coffee, and Councilmember David Sander will be riding along for the cause.

The Rancho Cordova Post currently has bottlecap magnets available for anyone interested in purchasing one. All proceeds, minus the shipping cost of $1.73, will be forwarded to the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership; Click here to be taken to a secure Paypal checkout.
