Smoking Deemed Potential Cause of Fire on Pantages Circle
A fire involving two neighboring houses on Pantages Circle Oct. 3 ended with minimal damage to the houses, and investigators are continuing their efforts to determine the cause of the blaze.
“We cannot rule out smoking as the cause of the fire,” said Rusty DuPray with the Sacramento Metro Fire District. The fire was extinguished quickly by firefighters and only one room and an attic was damaged.
There was also concern over two 25-gallon oil drums that were sitting near the properties, but DuPray said the drums were not filled with dangerous liquids.
“The drums were tested by our hazardous materials team and found to be filled with mostly water and a little oil,” DuPray said, “nothing hazardous.”
