California Capital Air Show Returns With Array of Aerobatic Talent
If you’ve spent any time in Rancho Cordova at all this week, you have heard the roar of jet engines in the skies above our community. If that isn’t effective advertising for the California Capital Air Show, I don’t know what is. The Air Show will be the whirlwind conclusion to an already successful Air Force Week.
The United States Air Force Thunderbirds will be the headliners of the show. With the help of 12 Officers and over 120 Enlisted Air Force members from more than 30 different career fields, the team will fill the sky with their unforgettable stunts.
The Thunderbirds represent the pride and precision that all Airmen embody. In the 56th year of the Thunderbirds’ history, the team will be flying the Lockheed Martin F-16 Block 52 aircraft in this years’ show. The Thunderbird demonstrations are nothing short of overwhelming and their return to the California Capital Air Show will be just as unforgettable as their previous demonstrations.
All eyes will be focused on the sky as the many talented performers take flight on Saturday and Sunday. The solo aerobatics of Melissa Andrzejewski and Kent Pietch are sure to please the entire family. History buffs will appreciate the Warbird exhibition showcasing fly bys and and race patterns.
Not to be outdone, the Patriots Jet Team, a civilian owned aerobatic team, promises to shock and thrill with their many daring maneuvers. The risky and crowd pleasing Tail Slide features the aircraft sliding back toward the ground- something no other jet performance team does. Be sure to have the cameras ready.
While the aerial demonstrations are unforgettable and full of heart pounding excitement, don’t forget your walking shoes, because the static displays are informative, interesting, and give an up close and personal experience with some of your favorite aircraft.
Tickets at the gate will cost $20 each, but you can also pre-order tickets for $15 here. Parking will cost $10 per vehicle. Air Show goers are encouraged to ride RT for free to help displace some of the vehicle traffic.
While at the Air Show, be sure to patronize the many local groups that will be vending. Join the Rancho Cordova Kiwanis for a delicious pancake breakfast that will include sausage, orange juice and coffee, all for $5.
There are countless volunteer hours that go in to the organizing and implementing of a safe, entertaining air show. Without these volunteers our community wouldn’t be hosting such an exciting regional event. A big thank you goes out to those of you who are contributing to the fabric of our city through your volunteer efforts.
