Rancho Cordova Wins National Finance Award
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been presented to the City of Rancho Cordova for its 2007-08 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, according to a GFOA spokesperson.
In addition, the City’s Finance Department was given an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement for preparing the award-winning report.
Judged by an impartial panel, the Rancho Cordova entry demonstrated constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and to motivate potential users groups to read the report. “This is a significant achievement for our city and the Finance Department,” said Donna Silva, Finance Director.
GFOA serves about 17,500 government finance professionals in the U.S. and Canada.
