Rancho Cordova Crime Report: 8/18/09 – 8/25/09

The following police reports were filed between 08/18/2009 and 08/25/2009:

08/19/09: According to the police report, a man entered a home located on Folsom Boulevard, simulated a handgun and demanded money from the victim, a resident of the home. The report said the victim yelled at the suspect to get out and the suspect fled with an alleged accomplice. The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident; the alleged accomplice has not been located. The alleged accomplice is described as a black male, age 15, 5-feet-8-inches tall, 155 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
08/20/09: Lyubov Gaponova, 37, was arrested on suspicion of battery and resisting an officer at Ellenwood Avenue and Routier Road. According to the police report, the suspect’s son had been arrested for a DUI and the suspect arrived on the scene as a tow truck driver was towing the vehicle. The suspect pushed the tow truck driver, jumped in to the car and attempted to start it, the report said. Officers attempted to remove the suspect from the vehicle, said the report, and the suspect allegedly flailed her arms and kicked the deputy several times before wrestling with the officer for approximately 3 minutes. The suspect was arrested and the officer sustained minor injuries, according to the report.
08/22/09: Clifford Smith, 24, and Orlando Vitales, 30, were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and criminal terrorist threat in a public use area of Kiefer Boulevard. According to the police report, the suspects are neighbors involved in an ongoing dispute and the first suspect confronted the second by brandishing a golf club and saying they were going to kill them. After the initial confrontation the second suspect retrieved a machete and allegedly swung it at the first suspect, the report said. Neither party was injured.
08/23/09: Johnny Yang, 22, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence in a parking lot on La Loma Drive. According to the police report, the suspect and his girlfriend became engaged in a physical confrontation that led to the suspect allegedly grabbing the victim’s arm forcefully and allegedly striking the victim in the neck with a bladed hand.
