Man Pleads Guilty to U.S. Bank Robbery

Michael Andrew Williams, 28, has pleaded guilty today to the robbery of the U.S. Bank at 10635 Folsom Boulevard on December 28, 2008.

Williams was picked up by the Rancho Cordova Police Department on Jan. 25 in connection with the robbery and is being held without bail.

At the time of arrest,Williams was also on probation for drug and theft violations, U.S District Attorney Lawrence Brown said in a statement. The FBI and Sacramento County Sheriff had been investigating the case and ultimately led to Williams’ arrest.

U.S. Attorney Michelle Rodriguez said that Williams entered the U.S. Bank on Folsom Boulevard and presented a note that stated he had a gun to a teller. He fled on foot with $1,174. Williams then went back to the same bank on January 21 and robbed it again, Rodriguez said, and left with approximately $501.

Williams has also agreed to pay restitution for the robberies.

Williams will be sentenced on October 13, 2009 and faces up to 20 years in prison for the offenses.
