Kitty Palooza Adoption Event At Sacramento County Shelters

Currently, there are upwards of 100 cats and kittens that are currently either at the shelter or being fostered. While the numbers are preliminary, the shelter estimates that there has been about a 30 percent increase in cats and kittens that have entered the shelter, with an almost 50 percent increase in kittens that have entered the shelter either as feral kittens or from unwanted litters. Kittens and cats that go home these two days will be vaccinated, spayed/neutered and will come with a one-year license. There may be a few who haven’t been altered yet but that will be done within a day or two.

Many of these cats and kittens are looking for good homes. We currently have a mama cat and her kittens that were recovered at the beginning of the month from a storm drain near the Sacramento Airport. Someone had dropped them off at the airport and a few of the kittens had fallen down the drain before the Animal Control Officer was on the scene. Once the mama cat got the attention of the officer fixed on the storm drain with lots of pawing and meowing, the Fire Department was able to come out and rescue them. This is just one of many stories about the cats and kitten at the shelter that deserve a second chance at a good life.

The event will be held on Saturday, August 1st from 10 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. and on Sunday the 2nd from 11 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. Some of the offerings include 2 for 1 cat adoptions, baked treats, face painting and crafts and animal care information. Stop by your local Sacramento County Animal Care and Regulation office at 4290 Bradshaw Rd for the annual Kitty Palooza and help save a life.
