What about the thousands of commuters that use Hwy 50 corridor passing through Sunrise Blvd, Zinfandel Dr, Mather Field Blvd from El Dorado County? It's great to expand local awareness, but people that are "just passing through" should be made aware too. Our Rancho Cordova Kohl's store is infinitely more convenient than the Folsom Kohl's. If we can snag folks returning home to Cameron Park, Placerville or even El Dorado Hills, our city benefits from Rancho Cordova shopping being more convenient. I've traveled extensively OTR. I always see signs on the highway with icons or logos of stores, restaurants, lodging and gas stations or other services that are available at the next exit. Why not something as simple as that? Have the businesses pay a certain amt for their logo to be put on the sign and the city pays for the blank sign for those logos. People that aren't familiar with our city's retail centers may not know there's a Home Depot, Costco, or Staples at the Sunrise Blvd exit because they aren't visible from the highway. Someone may be driving home, see Staples' logo on the Sunrise Blvd services sign and say to themselves, "Oh, I need to buy a box of manilla folders." How many of us, when on a long road trip will see the McDonald's logo on one of those signs about lunchtime and say to yourself, "I'm hungry. McDonald's sounds good right about now."
