Silva’s Sheldon Inn Re-Opens for Summer

Silva’s Sheldon Inn is one of my favorite restaurants. My wife and I enjoy having date night on occasion there and enjoying a gourmet meal and sharing a bottle of wine. Recently, Chef Doug, his wife Barbara, and the Sheldon Inn staff took a little break for the summer, but now they’re back.

Chef Doug says, “We had a very restful and productive “stay-cation”. We sanded and refinished the bar (had we known how easy it was we would have done it sooner). The bar looks and feels nice and smooth. We also put a fresh coat of black paint on the booths and red on the front porch.”

The restaurant is now featuring their summer harvest. Peaches are now available and they will be putting them into their fresh made cobbler for the rest of the season. They are also featuring sweet Sloughhouse corn included in Doug’s fabulous corn chowder. I can’t wait to enjoy a bowl.

The tomatoes and eggplant in their personal  garden are not quite ready yet, although it looks like we may only have to wait a couple more weeks to taste these delicious vegetables in their dishes. They tell us the basil is going crazy so you will see that delicious summer herb in some of their dishes soon.

The food at Silva’s is fantastic and the service is excellent. The location is a short drive for those living in Rancho Cordova south of the 50 Hwy and is also a quick trip from Elk Grove, Mather, and Wilton. If you haven’t tried Silva’s yet, what are you waiting for?
