Would-Be Car Thief Brought to Halt by Sac County Bait Car

Early Friday morning, a Sacramento County K-9 Unit apprehended a suspect who allegedly tried to steal a sheriff’s bait car. At just before 3 a.m., the suspect broke into a vehicle that authorities use to try to trap vehicle thieves. The vehicles will often feature door locks, interior cameras and remote engine shut offs.
