On July 3rd and 4th, residents of Rancho Cordova will celebrate Independence Day in true Rancho Cordova style. The festivities will begin with the requisite parade on Saturday morning. Entrants must have had their application in by mid-June, so if it’s too late to march down Coloma Rd in your favorite Uncle Sam get up, perhaps spending a little quality time on the curb with the family watching the entrants parade by will calm the craving for the Stars and Stripes. Be sure to look out for the Rancho Cordova Post entry!

Remember to bring plenty of water, as previous years have been scorching and staying well hydrated in the heat is of paramount importance, especially for the kiddos. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Coloma Rd at Cordova Lane and will head West to Chase Lane, finishing up in the Cordova High parking lot. Make sure you get there early to grab comfy seats for the whole family. The judges reviewing stand will be set up near the Casa Coloma Convalescent Home. If you get a spot close enough to the stand, you’ll be able to see the quick presentations some of the contestants provide.

Ever wonder who is behind the scenes of the annual Rancho Cordova 4th of July Parade? The local Kiwanis Club are a large portion of the powerhouse necessary to make the Parade such a success. The Rancho Cordova Kiwanis is made up of a diverse group of people who meet every Thursday morning at the IHOP on Sunrise Blvd (2216 Sunrise Blvd) at 7 a.m. They strive to better Rancho Cordova by reaching out to families and children by working together and understanding the needs of our community. The Kiwanis are always accepting new members, so feel free to drop in one Thursday morning and see how you can help be of service.
