The Folsom Cordova Unified School District is looking for a few people in the community who are in the mood to give.
FCUSD has established a Parent Engagement Project that helps low-income parents and parents with limited English proficiency become more involved in their children’s schools. The school district has acquired a federal grant that funds three AmeriCorps volunteers to oversee the project, but they are still lacking items that they will need to help make the project successful.
While the district would appreciate any type of donation to the project, they have released a ‘wish list’ of specific items that they currently need:
- Funds to fuel the Parent Resource Outreach Mobile
- Books for children to read, ages birth to teen
- Books for parents on educational topics
- Educational computer programs for parents and children to play together
- 3 new district approved laptops
- District approved computer printer
- Family-friendly board and card games
- Monetary donations
- Donations to provide scholarships so families can participate in classes
- Office supplies
- Gift cards from stores and businesses in the area to give as rewards for finishing classes
Anyone interested in donating to the Parent Engagement Project can contact the Americorps volunteers via phone or email:
