7 Arrested in Rogue River Murder Case

On June 9, 2009, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives arrested seven known gang members in connection to the November 1, 2008 shooting death of 24-year-old Patrick Razaghzadeh and the wounding of four others at a Halloween party on Rogue River Drive.

Those arrested and booked into the Sacramento County main Jail on the charges of murder and attempted murder were: Willie Toliver (22), Cory Carmicle (22), Charles Ferrell (21), Elijah Fields (18), and Willie Harris (19). A sixteen- year-old male juvenile was also arrested on the charges of murder and attempted murder and booked into juvenile hall. The seventh suspect (who is 18-years-old) was a juvenile at the time of the crime and has been in custody at juvenile hall since March 19, 2009. He was also booked on the additional charges of murder and attempted murder. His name will not be released until the District Attorney’s office makes a determination whether to prosecute him as an adult, or a juvenile.

On November 1, 2008, at 12:01 a.m. Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies and Rancho Cordova Police Department officers responded to a call reporting a shooting at a home located in the 2200 block of Rogue River Drive. The deputies and officers arrived at the home and were met by approximately thirty-five people who had been attending a Halloween party at the home at the time of the shooting. The deputies were told by the crowd five people had been shot and the suspects had fled on foot.

Detectives believe the shooting occurred when Razaghzdeh, who lived at the home, told the gang members they were not welcome at the party. During the course of the investigation detectives received cooperation from many of the suspects regarding the events that occurred before, during, and after the shooting.

The arrests were the result of an exhaustive seven-month investigation by members of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau, Gang Suppression Unit, Major Crimes Bureau, Special Enforcement Detail, and North Patrol Division POP officers. Members of the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force also played an integral role in the investigation.

All suspects are being held without bail in either the Main Jail or juvenile hall.

Submitted by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
