It makes no economic sense at all. If the employee doesn't feel it necessary to walk a mile to get a job they really don't want to work. School kids don't get bus service unless they live 2 1/2 miles from school, yet were providing non stop bus service for less than a mile walk at a cost of $100,000 per year for the city. By the way the RT already provides bus service to the area. This is a lose, lose, lose even more situation. Once started it will continue even if no one rides it.

From an economic development and traffic easement standpoint it makes sense. If an employee can easily reach the employment centers of Rancho Cordova they may be more likely to accept a job here and they'll save on commuting expenses by taking public transit. Employers are happy and hire more. More jobs in Rancho means economic prosperity and higher quality of life for our residents. It's a win-win-win for everyone.

Is this something that employees in Rancho Cordova really need or will it attract new business somehow? From an economic standpoint, why does this new service make sense?

Point taken. I know the way you feel was brought up during the city council meetings that this shuttle was on the agenda. Only time will tell if the city will get its money worth out of this investment.

At a cost to the city of $100,000 a year it should be convenient. How about the rest of us on the north side of Folsom who are paying for this?

I think its a great idea, I just hope folks use it. Speaking as a person who lives near the intersection of Olson Dr & Zinfandel, Zinfandel definitely needs some relief at commute time. I hope the shuttle runs frequently enough that it will be convenient to use, otherwise few people will use it. One of the overall Sacramento RT's biggest challenges is inconvenient schedules, which, among other things, is why ridership is down.

I just went to the RT website and saw nothing about this. Anyone have stop locations or actual time schedule?
