Mather Sports Center Celebrates Grand Opening

If you haven’t seen it, you’ve probably heard about it. You might even be taking an aerobics course there or spending your Saturday afternoons enjoying the skate park. As the newest addition to the Cordova Recreation and Park District, Mather Sports Center is having a grand opening for the community to enjoy.

On Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mather Sports Center (3755 Schriever, Mather), be a part of the ribbon cutting and Dedication Ceremony.    Dinger from the Sacramento River Cats will be on hand and free hot dogs, chips, drinks and cupcakes will be available. Families can also enjoy athletic demonstrations, music, food and other activities.

Mather Sports Center is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the weekends. To use the Center, you must have an access card, which requires a one time fee of $25. Lockers are even available for only $5 per month. There is an open gym, walking and jogging areas, a raquetball court, and weight rooms. The Center also boasts a skate park, softball triplex, and soccer field.
