Sutter Health Cuts 121 IT Jobs in Rancho Cordova
Since Monday, Sutter Health employees based at the Rancho Cordova facility have known they will need to start looking for new jobs. In an effort to close the $4 million gap in its IT budget, Sutter officials released the information informing employees that they will no longer be employed with Sutter Health as of July 17. The 26-hospital system based in Sacramento has been struggling to survive the recession.
According to spokeswoman Karen Garner, the 121 employees who were let go on Monday will get two months pay before severance benefits begin, so they can focus on finding new job opportunities. The employees will aslo receive payment of their health coverage premiums for the duration of their severance.
“This decision was one of the most difficult I’ve ever had to make,” Sutter Health Chief Information Officer Jon Manis said in a statement. “These are dedicated and talented professionals who have provided tremendous value to our organization. Unfortunately, these staffing changes are necessary. We have a higher responsibility now more than ever to our patients who pay for health care to be good stewards and to keep our services affordable.”
Garner said 1,500 information services employees would continue working for Sutter Health.
