Voice Your Opinion- Improve White Rock Park

On Thursday May 21 from 6:30-8:00 pm at White Rock Park, residents of the White Rock Area of Rancho Cordova will meet with the Cordova Recreation and Park District to discuss the plans for White Rock Park. This park has been scheduled for improvements for many years and so residents have set up this meeting with CRPD.

It is feared by many that the grant for park renovation will soon expire. The goal of the meeting is to talk about park improvements, understand the status of the grant for renovation, hear about plans for the overpass and discuss other park-related issues. This meeting is important for local residents to be able to gain an understanding about a local park, express concern where needed, and ultimately advocate for a more vibrant park that our community deserves.

Anyone in Rancho Cordova is invited and the meeting will take place in front of the White Rock Park sign along White Rock Road or in the modular building if it is available. Please join other residents in supporting your community.

We have been promised improvements to this park for so many years and I sincerely hope that we hear good news on Thursday at this meeting. It will be very bad news if CRPD loses this grant. The amazing thing is that there has been money to redo Mather and there seems to be funds available to spruce up other parks.

  2. I grew up living by White Rock Park and enjoyed swimming there as a kid, but I wasn’t allowed to play much there as my parents didn’t feel it was safe. Now that I have a child of my own I understand. The picnic structure was falling apart for years before they finally took it down, always broken glass everywhere, etc. It would be great if they could make it look like some of the new parks in the new Zinfandel homes. I think if a little love and attention was given to that park it would overflow with families!! Water features the kids could run through like the new ones would be nice to, and bathrooms…..hmm…maybe I should attend the meeting!

  3. Amber, I really hope you do attend the meeting. The community needs people who are willing to invest in our parks.

Tony (or anyone else), please see our neighborhood website at http://www.cordovatowne.com for future White Rock Park events. We will do our best to tell The Post about our events, so hopefully you can find out about future meetings here too. Tentatively, we may have a meeting with CRPD again at the end of June. If you live in the White Rock area, please join our e-Group too so that we can be in touch and talk about these types of things. Together we can make a difference in our community.
