Faulty Nimbus Dam Fish Ladder Meeting Open to Public.

Community members are invited to attend a meeting discussing plans to modify the fish ladder facilities at Nimbus Hatchery. The current fish ladder was constructed in 1955 and is now in failing condition. Come with your questions and voice your opinion on what needs to be done to update the ladder. The fish weir crosses the river and diverts salmon into the fish ladder. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and California Department of Fish and Game propose to either rebuild the weir, or build a new weir that extends the fish ladder into the stilling basin at the base of Nimbus Dam. Fish would hold in the stilling basin until they ascend the ladder.

Two meetings will be held on April 30, from 1 to 3 p.m. or 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., both at the California State University, Sacramento, Aquatic Center located at 1901 Hazel Ave., Rancho Cordova.
