American River Parkway Earth Day Spring Clean Up

The American River Parkway Foundation fosters environmental stewardship, volunteer opportunities, and funds projects and programs on the American River Parkway. The Foundation also promotes the preservation and protection of the Parkways natural resources. As part of this mission, the Foundation holds the annual American River Parkway Earth Day Spring Clean Up, and volunteers are still needed to make this project a success.  The Clean Up event will be held on Saturday, April 18 from 9 a.m. till about noon.

To volunteer is easy. The Foundation asks that volunteers sign up here before the event. There are multiple locations where groups will meet to clean up including; River Bend Park, Discovery Park, Sailor Bar, Howe Ave at La Riviera, Sunrise at South Bridge Street, Northgate at Hwy 160, and Ancil Hoffman Park.

When you get to your clean up location, please follow the signs to the “River Clean Up” station where you will check in. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have their parents consent, and a form for this can be found on the ARPF website.

Volunteers must also read the Safety Guidelines prior to volunteering. Remember to wear long pants, closed toed shoes, sunscreen, mosquito repellant and a hat.  To avoid dehydration, drink plenty of water and take breaks.

  1. Sounds like a very worthwhile civic event. The American River Parkway is an amazing resource for the City and the region. If you have not recently, I would recommend you walk, jog or ride the parkway and take in the awesome nature available to us all.
