The Rancho Cordova Police Department Promotes Gun Safety Month
Chief Reuben Meeks recently announced that during the month of April, the Rancho Cordova Police Department will be promoting Gun Safety Month. Statistics show that half of American households have guns in them. In Rancho Cordova, that means approximately 11,000 households contain firearms. This month-long campaign will focus on educating our community, especially our youth, on gun safety through various activities:
- The Problem Oriented Policing team will be visiting elementary schools in Rancho Cordova to present the Eddy Eagle Gun Safety Program.
- Free gun locks and safety pamphlets are available at the Police Department’s Front Counter.
- A display promoting Gun Safety is in the Police Department’s lobby.
- Eddy Eagle will be at the Police Department’s booth at the annual Kids Day in the Park at Hagan Park on April 25, 2009.
Any questions regarding the Rancho Cordova Police Department’s Gun Safety Month activities should be referred to Problem Oriented Police Sergeant Wayne Stephens at (916) 875-5710.
