Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Extravaganza At Hagan Community Park
This year, Easter Sunday falls on April 12, 2009. With any luck the new spring season will bring pleasant weather for this year’s Easter weekend. If you and your family are looking for an activity during Easter weekend, then come and check out the Spring Extravaganza and Easter Egg Hunt at Hagan Community Park in Rancho Cordova on Saturday, April 11th.
The Spring Extravaganza is an annual event that has been held for over 30 years and is co-sponsored by the Rancho Cordova Rotary Club of Hagan Park. There will be several events taking place, including a Pancake Breakfast, a free Easter Egg Hunt for the kids, a Craft Fair and information booths promoting upcoming events and activities. The Sacramento Valley Live Steamers trains and the Petting Barn will also be open with free admission; donations are always accepted.
Festivities at Hagan Community Park will run from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm beginning with an all you can eat Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Kiwanis Club. The all you can eat Pancake Breakfast, accompanied by orange juice, will be available from 8:30 am to 10:00 am and the cost is $3.00 per child and $5.00 per adult. Bring a picnic lunch for later in the day to enjoy in the park as well!
“The Easter Egg Hunt is free and starts at 10:00 a.m. sharp!” says Rachel Durnbaugh, Recreation Coordinator for the Cordova Recreation and Parks District. The egg hunt will be divided into age groups which will be 0-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8. Please arrive early to the egg hunt to gaurantee your child a spot. When you and your child arrive for the egg hunt, the designated age group areas will be posted with signs for you to easily find. Easter Eggs and goodies will be provided, but remember to bring a basket for your child to hold these treats. Don’t forget to bring a camera, as the Easter Bunny has promised to make his appearance for the event!
There will also be a Craft Fair for the duration of the Extravaganza from 8:30am to 12:00 noon. If you would like to become a vendor, or for further information on the event, call 916-362-1841 or fill out the online application at the CRPD website.
Information booths for upcoming Cordova Recreation and Parks District events and activities will be set up in the park for your convenience. Booths included will be in regards to swimming, youth tennis, kayaking school, soccer and more! Durnbaugh states that this will be a great opportunity to register your 5-13 year old children for Summer Day Camp, which begins June 1st. The District Office will be open 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 11th to accommodate these registrations.
“Free parking will be available inside Hagan Park before 9:30 am. Additional parking will be available at Cordova High School,” Durnbaugh wants to informs the participating public. It is important to note that there will be a $4.00 parking fee to park inside of Hagan Park after this allotted time period.
