Share your Story with Rancho

Please do not be shy. If you have a stellar idea for a new column you’d like to see, or you’d like to write a column yourself, let me know. You don’t have to have professional writing experience, nor do you have to commit all of your spare time. You do have to have the desire to share your passion with others in your community, though. Who knows, it might be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made. It was for me.

Pet of the Week: Emerald

Emerald, or Emme for short, can steal your heart with her emerald green eyes. It almost seems like she can speak to you through her eyes; with one subtle glance and a meow she can get you to pet her or a long enchanted stare might get you to feed her a treat. She came to the shelter with her brother, but once her brother was adopted and she was left behind she retracted and became scared. She became stiff as a board when she was held and wouldn’t stop shaking until she was set down.

Residents to Fight Back Against String of Burglaries in Anatolia

Tuesday’s burglaries are just the most recent of a string of such crimes targeting Anatolia homes. When asked what RCPD plans to do about the safety of the city’s citizens, their response is much like other police departments through out California. They do not have the resources to man all of the neighborhoods that need their attention. These unfortunate circumstances have led Anatolia residents to take matters into their own hands. On Wednesday January 7th at 6:30 in the evening a community meeting will be held in the club house to discuss the recent break ins and what the community is doing to prevent such crimes.

The suspects grandmother who was standing behind the man in the doorway, was hit by a bullet in her calf.

Library Stops Accepting Cash to Prevent Theft

It’s hard to believe that anyone would rob a library. But that, unfortunately, is exactly what has happened at two area libraries. A staff member at the Rancho Cordova branch on Folsom Boulevard came into work on the morning of Dec. 4 to discover that someone had broken into the safe and had stolen about $1,660 in fines and fees. An additional $370 was taken from the Friends of the Library funds.
