A 30-year-old man is under arrest in connection with a fatal December shooting in Rancho Cordova, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department said Friday.  Derrick Sam  is accused in the slaying of Timothy Brodie, 30.

On Dec. 19, 2009, Brodie was kidnapped in the early morning and taken to a Rancho Cordova apartment complex at 3060 Laurelhurst Drive, where he was shot several times in the parking lot and left to die. Brodie’s car was found the next day in Carmichael, where it had been burned.

Derrick Sam was arrested at the Homicide Unit’s office, and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of murder, kidnapping, arson and false imprisonment. He is being held without bail. Sam is scheduled to appear in court on February  2, 2009 at 1:30 p.m.
