Rancho Cordova Company Creates Ball To Drop on New Year’s Eve

Sacramento is featuring the area’s first New Year’s Eve ball drop. In true New York fashion, the glittering ball will drop as the clock strikes midnight. The ball, which is actually a lighted cube encased in a spherical wire cage. will descend from a specially built tower and illuminate a 22,000-watt LED sign at 930 K St. But none of this would have been possible with out Lightning Science of Rancho Cordova, the creators of the sparkling orb.
