Rancho Cordova police Chief Rueben Meeks is looking for people to serve on a new police advisory committee. The newly formed Chief’s Outreachu Advisory Board will be improving the quality of life and building trust between the communities in Rancho Cordova and the police department, a police news release says.

Meeks wants a diverse team of people who will openly discuss ideas and concerns and educate the community on police-related issues. Board members will also help create and improve problem-solving strategies for current issues and concerns the department faces.

Board members must live or work in the Rancho Cordova area and be willing to serve on the board for two years. Applications can be downloaded from the Rancho Cordova Police Department website and are due with a letter of intent, by Dec. 31, 2008. Man Fatally Shot in Rancho Cordova Parking Lot

Sacramento County sheriffs officials said officers responded to an apartment complex on the 3000 block of Laurelhurst Drive in Rancho Cordova around 10:40 p.m. Friday after numerous 911 calls of gunfire reporting gunfire in the area, Sacramento County sheriff’s Capt. Scott Jones said.
