Homeless Woman Killed When Struck by Two Vehicles

A homeless woman was crossing Folsom Boulevard near the Starfire light-rail station  and was struck by two vehicles on Friday night. She died upon impact the California Highway Patrol reported. The woman was wearing dark clothing and jaywalking near Folsom Boulevard and Norcade Circle, said CHP Sgt. Evan Williams, adding that the area is not well lit.

The woman was hit by an eastbound vehicle at about 5:40 p.m., Williams said. The first vehicle threw her into the path of another vehicle. The second vehicle struck and killed the woman, he said. He said both motorists, who “felt very badly,” would not be cited. “It was just unfortunate circumstances. It was hard to avoid.” Many drivers in the area report that they frequently see people running across the road in front of oncoming traffic to catch the light rail.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is still trying to identify the woman and it is unsure if she was running across the street to get to the light rail station.
