Celebrate Some ‘Howl’iday Fun

Nov 20th, 2008 | By Michelle Ventress | Category: Events, Lifestyle

Recently, a report on the evening news said that 70% of the population is making it a point to cut back and save on gifts for family and friends this holiday season. Only 20% of people that purchase gifts for their pets are planning to budget on presents for their four legged friends. Maybe that’s because Christmas presents for a cat are cheaper than presents for your wife’s 14 year old nephew that you never liked anyway. Or maybe it’s because you’ve always liked your cat more than most of your relatives. In either case, the report shows something impressive. Pets enjoy the holiday season as well. So, for those of you who fill up Fido’s stocking with an extra dose of holiday cheer, you live in the right City. “Gone To The Dogs!” is sponsoring the Second Annual “Winter Woof Fest!” on Saturday, December 13th.
The”Winter  Woof Fest!” will be held from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Cordova Recreation Park District (CRPD) Headquarters Building #1 at 2197 Chase Drive in Rancho Cordova. Because all dogs need to spend some quality time with Santa, and because it’s so darn cute, dogs can have their photo taken with Santa for $5. There will also be vendors and a silent auction as well as popcorn, coffee, hot chocolate, t-shirts, bandannas and bows for sale.

Proceeds benefit the district’s first off leash dog park at Hagan Park in Rancho Cordova scheduled to open in spring 2009. To make sure the event is a success and fun for everyone, there is a limit of one dog per adult and everyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. You can still sign up if you’d like to be a vendor by calling 916-362-1841 x20.
