It’s a Holly Jolly Christmas
Nov 19th, 2008 | By Michelle Ventress | Category: Capital Village, Events, FeaturedRancho Cordova is starting off the holiday season on Thanksgiving weekend with festive music, delicious hot drinks, and even snow! The Cordova Community Christmas Tree Lighting will be held on Sunday, Nov. 30 at Village Green Park at Capital Village, located at Zinfandel Drive and International. The fun for the whole family starts at 4:30 p.m. with the Christmas tree lighting at 6 p.m.
Admission to the event is free, so bring the family to the tree lighting and kick off your Christmas season.
The Rancho Cordova Christmas tree of past years at St. John Vianney Church on Coloma Road has grown so tall, we can no longer reach the top. So this year the community will have to take advantage of another Rancho tree to do the job. All the open space in the new location will provide the room for even more entertainment and activities.
Some of the free activities for you and your family to enjoy include, hay rides, steam train rides, crafts for the children, food and drinks, and a visit with Santa! The holiday music will be provided by; New Walk Gospel Barbershop Quartet, St. John Vianney Multicultural Choir, Coolfield Christian Rock Ban, and many others.
Remember to bring the scarves and gloves and to dress the kids warmly. Even if the day isn’t too chilly, the evening promises to become a winter wonderland. It’s not that often that Rancho Cordovans get to play in the snow.
In order to make this event a success, the Christmas Tree Lighting Team is still in need of volunteers. If you have a knack for decorating, a passion for Christmas lights, or just an overwhelming need to be a part of something festive, please call 273-5704. Volunteers will be needed on both Saturday and Sunday. Come be a part of something magical.
