Man’s Body Found in Rancho Duplex

The shooting death of a 52-year-old man is currently being investigated as a homicide, said Sacramento County sheriff’s.  Deputies arrived at a home in in the 9000 block of Salmon Falls Drive at about a few minutes before 6 p.m. Sunday and found the body of Edward Chaney, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Chaney died from a gunshot wound, Sgt. Tim Curran said. There were no visible signs of other trauma to the body.Neighbors told sheriff’s officials that they went to the man’s home to visit but nobody answered the door. They saw Chaney laying motionless on the floor when they looked through the front window, Curran said.

The neighbors told officials that he lived alone in the duplex since June 2007.

Anyone with information about the death is asked to call 916-874-5115, or Crime Alert at 916-443-HELP.
