Mather Sports Center Open During Construction
Nov 11th, 2008 | By Michelle Ventress | Category: Featured, MatherThe Mather Sports Center is getting a little face lift as residents can tell by the sound of tools echoing from inside the building and the construction fencing surrounding areas of the center. The end product of months of construction will be a series of fantastic multi purpose buildings. The skate park, which opened earlier in the year is already a well loved area for for kids to hang out and skateboard. The neighboring playground is also being utilized by area families with young children, as they is equipment for children of all ages to play on.
The Center is open Monday through Friday from 6 in the morning until 10 at night and from Saturday from 9 to 3:30 and is closed on Sundays. To use the Mather Sports Center facilities you must have an access card that requires a one time set up fee of $20. The only exception is for people who are signed up CRPD classes that are located at the Sports Center. In an added convenience, lockers are available for rentals for one month at a time for only $5 per month.
The $15 million complex now includes softball and baseball fields, an outdoor basketball court, and a roller hockey court- all for the enjoyment of area residents. The parking lot was completed on Tuesday, November 11 and while no exact date has been set for completion of the project, everyone is hopeful to see an end in the next couple weeks.
There are many classes and equipment that can be used in the Sports Center for a nominal fee. For a list of the classes being offered, please see the official website, as not all classes are offered during construction. If you haven’t been by to see the newest additions to the Mather Sports Center, take a drive to 3755 Schriever.
