Replacement Plans Still On for Rancho Target
Nov 5th, 2008 | By Michelle Ventress | Category: BusinessAfter ending plans to build two Sacramento area stores last week, Target confirmed on Wednesday that it still plans to replace the Rancho Cordova store. The store at 10881 Olson Drive will close on February 7 for a major renovation and reconstruction of the existing store. The new store is expected to open in October of 2009. Target plans on rehiring its 130 workers or possibly placing them at other stores. The city of Rancho Cordova estimates that the new Target will generate between $400,000 and $500,000 in sales tax revenue- about double what the store is generating now.
The current store was built in 1987, and shoppers would agree that compared to other Target stores in the area, this one needs some attention. The new store will be 28 percent larger measuring nearly 144,000 square feet. The new store will also have space for a pharmacy, cafe, photo department, and a Starbucks.
