Free Fun for Kids at Lowes
Oct 28th, 2008 | By Michelle Ventress | Category: Capital Village, LifestyleThe Build and Grow clinics are available at Lowes stores across the country and are gaining in popularity as parents are trying to find low cost activities for kids that involve something other than playing video games and text messaging. If you are a do it yourself-er and want to pass on some of those skills to your kids, Lowes offers a great program that allows a parent of guardian to help their child create something of special of their own.
The Build and Grow clinic at our local Rancho Cordova Lowes offers the classes every other Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more information regarding the classes, click here. The next class will be held on Saturday November 8th. Sue, the very brave woman who conducts the classes, says there are between 45 and 55 children at each workshop. Since school has started, numbers have dropped due to fall sports, but there is still a definite following.
Parent and child participation is necessary for the class to run smoothly, so it is mandatory for parents of younger kids, especially those that are not yet comfortable handling tools and working with their hands, to be in attendance and help their child as needed. The clinic is also a great way to save a little money on holiday gifts. Grandparents across the country are going to be thrilled with hand made projects from the grand kids this holiday season. The projects are usually seasonal; resulting in many holiday and winter themed projects in the near future.
What do the kids like the best? The take home apron and safety glasses, of course. While to many people this might seem like the fun ends when you walk out the huge glass doors at Lowes, parents of young children know that with aprons and safety glasses, the fun is just beginning. Children will also be able to earn patches for their apron by attending the classes.
What do the parents like the best? Spending some quality time with their kids while creating something the children can be proud of. Plus, you’re already in Lowes, so you might as well look around. But the best part: the class is free!
