Shooting Victim Identified

A shooting last month at a Rancho Cordova gas station ended in a fatality. The man shot to death has been identified as 25 year old Rene Mejia Cruz, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.  Sheriff’s investigators believe that Cruz was arguing with25 year old Lizbeth Colon at the station on the 10000 block of Folsom Blvd at about 1:30 am on September 28th. Colon then allegedly shot Cruz with a sawed off shotgun and fled the scene.

Colon was arrested later in the day. According to court records, she is being held in the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of murder, robbery, and a weapons charge. She is scheduled to appear in court on October 24th.
