Neighborhood Watch is Vital to Our Community

The first step to crime prevention in our neighborhoods is communicating with our neighbors. When there are obvious signs that neighbors are paying attention and watching other houses either through Neighborhood Watch signs on streets, or decals placed on windows, criminals are warned.  An active Neighborhood Watch could deter crime from your area. The Rancho Cordova Police Department has a fantastic Neighborhood Watch program for area neighborhoods to participate in.

The Cordova Towne Neighborhood Association recently created a video highlighting the benefits of a Neighborhood Watch program and how to get such a program started in your area.  Many neighborhood associations in the area already have neighborhood watch programs started and the more peope who join, the stronger the Watch will be.

Rancho Cordova Police Department will be significant part of your program, but first the neighborhood must decide if this is something they can commit to. Is there a specific crime that neighbors want to target or is the overall safety and security of the neighborhood the goal? Come together and meet with the people you share a community with and discuss what’s most important to your family. Even if crime isn’t a major concern for your neighborhood, wouldn’t you like to keep it that way?  The RCPD have numerous resources for those who are ready and willing to start a Watch in their neighborhood.
