Announcing the 12th Annual Salmon Festival

Sep 26th, 2008 | By Michelle Ventress | Category: Lifestyle

Fall festival season is in full swing!  Attending a fall festival is the perfect way to enjoy the beauty of the season, and to take advantage of the year’s last few months of outdoor activity.  One of  the areas favorite fall festivals is the annual Salmon Festival here in Rancho Cordova.

This year’s Salmon Festival celebrates its 12th year!  The event is free for the entire family, and is held at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery & Lake Natoma State Park, on the majestic American River.

The Salmon Festival helps to protect salmon and the American River.  Its proceeds contribute to school grants for bus scholarships, and to nonprofit organizations who donate time to the festival.

What makes this festival great is the family atmosphere, the beautiful, historic location, and the myriad of activities available for children and adults, such as rafting, games, live music, kayaks & canoes, art & fishing clinics, hands-on exhibits, and American Indian & wildlife demonstrations.

In years past, families have enjoyed the delicious food, the live music, and the arts & crafts at the Salmon Festival.  With over 100 participating organizations, and more than 400 volunteers to make it possible, the Salmon Festival is the place to be, if you and your family want to partake in some of the best weather, food, activities, education and fun fall has to offer in Rancho Cordova.

The Salmon Festival is happening on October 11 & 12, at Nimbus Hatchery and Lake Natoma Park.  Parking is $9 with a free shuttle service.  There is free valet parking for bicycles.  For more information call (916)358-2869 or visit the official website
