The following information was provided by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

• 10400 block of Reymouth Avenue, arrest. Rachel Anne Smith, 32, was arrested at 1 p.m. Sept. 12 on suspicion of buying or receiving stolen property.

• 11100 block of Pit River Court, arrest. Darlene Vu, 28, was arrested at 4:10 p.m. Sept. 12 on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon with likelihood of great bodily harm.

• Las Casas Way and Paseo Drive, arrest. William H Benson, 48, was arrested at 4:34 p.m. Sept. 14 on suspicion of embezzlement.

• Old Placerville Road and Schriever Avenue, arrest. Christopher Anthony Boucher, 47, was arrested at 12:48 a.m. Sept. 16 on suspicion of possession of burglar’s tools, receiving stolen property, violating probation, buying or receiving stolen property.

• 11000 block of Olson Drive, arrest. Ashley Jolie Oliver, 18, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. Sept. 16 on suspicion of giving false identification to a peace officer.

No More Text Messaging While Driving

On September 24th, Governor Schwarzenegger signed a law making it illegal for California drivers to send or even read text messages. With the recent law in July that banned talking on the phone while driving and not wearing a hands-free device, there has been an increase in text message related accidents.
