“Scooter Bandit” Robbing Area Banks
Two area banks have been robbed recently by a man wearing a helmet. The nick-named “Scooter Bandit” is accused of robbing a Washington Mutual Bank in Rancho Cordova on April 23 and of a second robbery at Wachovia Bank in Gold River on August 22.
Unfortunately, the description of the suspect varies. Witnesses from the first robbery said the man was between five foot six and five foot ten and weighed somewhere between 150 and 190 pounds. He was said to have either a medium or a heavy build. At the first robbery he was wearing a black, red and white motorcycle helmet and dark sweatshirt. The descriptions from the second robbery say that the man was either white or Hispanic, between five foot four and five foot six and weighed anything from 140 to 180 pounds and had a medium build. The motorcycle helmet he was wearing had “Suzuki” printed on it in either white or silver lettering. His sweatshirt was light colored and he was wearing white cloth gloves.
The man was wielding a handgun during the first robbery, but only indicated that he had a handgun during robbery number two.
The police think this man could be armed and dangerous. If you have any information about either robbery, please contact the Sacramento FBI office at (916)481-9110.
