Mather Mud Run

Sep 19th, 2008 | By Michelle Ventress | Category: Featured

The ninth annual Mather Mud Run will be held at Hagan Park on Saturday September 27. The excitement begins at 7:00 a.m. but the fun lasts all day. The Mud Run is open to the community and anyone who wants to get the heart beating a little more quickly.  You can even sign up to participate in the run until Friday the 26th.  So, if a little sun, mud, sweat and glory is just what you’re looking for, Rancho is the place to be.

A  Color Guard presentation and a live National Anthem will be performed before the start of the race, so runners and cheerers alike are encouraged to come a little early. The Mud Run will feature a 5 mile or 2 mile obstacle course/Boot Camp Challenge, just in case your daily jog wasn’t cutting it.  The course is promised to have crawls, low walls, tunnels and tires, and of course, the requisite mud pit. If the 5 mile course isn’t your cup of Gatorade, then feel free to include 4 others with you as you tackle the course in a group of 5 where each person will complete a full mile.

The event promises to be family friendly and even encourages the young ones to get out there and partcipate too. There will be a half-mile kids run with special scoring system divided by age groups. There will also be military, police, and fire vehicles on display including a Black Hawk helicopter. The Mud Run is also holding a benefit for Toys for Tots in conjunction with the Cordova Parks and Recreation District as well our area police, fire and military.

For more information, pricing, or to sign up for the event, please see the official website.
