The fall sports season is underway for area schools. Fans will be cheering, students will be defending their school’s pride and on Thursday, the cross town rivalry began. Thursday, September 18th marked the first time Mills Middle School and Mitchell Middle School battled each other this year. The deciding games? Boys soccer and girls volleyball.

The sidelines were bustling with fans and supporters at the boys soccer game. The fifth game of the season for each team was played well. The Marauders have had a good start to their season with a record of 3 wins, no losses before Thursday’s game and have added another win. Congratulations Marauders!

Girls volleyball was just as exciting on Thursday. The lady mustangs racked up another win against the Marauders who had previously had a perfect record. The game was close the entire way through with each side pulling ahead only to find themselves slightly behind moments later. In the end, Mills won 28-26. Congratulations lady Mustangs!

Update: The last unofficial count of our poll Which is the best Middle School in Rancho? had Mitchell Middle school winning by 78% to 22% for Mills.
