Private Preschool Opens Doors

June ninth saw the opening of a brand new, privately owned preschool in Rancho Cordova. With all of the options available for childcare and preschool, many parents are left confused and frustrated with an oftentimes difficult decision. Parents want their children to be prepared for elementary school with the appropriate social skills, intellectual and physical development. Another preschool option became available to local parents in The Goddard School.

The Goddard School is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and is located on Bear Hollow Drive. The school caters to children from six weeks to six years of age. Parents can set up a personalized schedule for their children including attending class from two days to five days a week. There are two separate playgrounds that encourage age appropriate safety and play. The program of the school is designed to “enhance the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development” of the children in their care.

The main difference between The Goddard School and corporate centers is that each of the Goddard Schools is privately owned and the owner is on site at all times. This allows the teachers to teach and give 100 percent to their students without the burden of handling paperwork, which the owner takes care of. The owner of the local Goddard School, Bill Pu, also tauts the high level of quality assurance the school has to offer families. Inspectors come to the schools unannounced on a regular basis and go through lesson plans, curriculum, files and rate the safety of the school-ensuring the best possible and safest learning environment for the students.

The school also emphasizes their open door policy. Parents are encouraged to stop in at any time to check on things. Daily activity reports go home with each child telling parents of the child’s day and curriculum highlights.

The Goddard School is still relatively new in California as the program moves westward. There are currently only three in the state- the other two are in Orange County. The Rancho Cordova  preschool boasts six teachers- all with a love of children and nearly all with degrees in Early Childhood Education.  Curriculum includes children developing their natural curiosity, and encouragement for creativity and self esteem building.

The school will allow 132 students at one time, and has 80 students currently enrolled. For more information about The Goddard School, please see the official website.
