The Contractor that I used had a fake license number on his business card! Luckily, I checked via the State Contractor’s Licensing Board’s website. Then a neighbor down the street hired him. The first day on the job, he “fell” off a ladder and then sued the owner!

This is good information to know for all homeowners. We have had work done on our house with no problems, but I never thought to ask to see their license. I will in the future!

We got a poor quality job 10 years ago. They did have a license but it turned out to belong to someone else. So do your homework first.

I used an unlicensed contractor for a bathroom remodel and I will never use an unlicensed contractor again for a big job like this. There are some major issues with the workmanship in this bathroom and there is nothing I can do – nobody to complain to. The leaking was not apparent until he was long gone. The extra couple thousand dollars to pay a professional would have been worth it because then I wouldn’t have to go re-spend money to fix the problems he cause. Learn from me – don’t do it people. And no, I am not in the industry whatsoever. Just a guy who learned the hard way.
