Deputy’s Stolen Gun Found
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department has found the handgun that was stolen from one of their deputy’s last month in Rancho Cordova. On August 20th, deputies from the Rancho Cordova Police Department responded to a call about a man violating a domestic violence restraining order.
They found Brent May, 31, at the Red Roof Inn on the 10800 block of Olson Drive and Police stopped him when he was in his car. Deputies learned that May was on probation and searched his car where they found methamphetamine, a digital scale, several rounds of ammunition, and three gun holsters as well as the .45 caliber handgun stolen from a sheriff’s vehicle on July 30th while he was attending an FBI training course.
May has not admitted to stealing the handgun out of the sheriff’s car. Neither the laptop and or the GPS system that were stolen at the same time have been recovered.
It is not currently known how May came into possession of the weapon.
