With the first day of school just around the corner and the ol’ pocket book exhausted from purchasing the latest craze in school supplies, most families deserve a little break. Lucky for us, the Friends of the Library are coming to our rescue. They are providing a Saturday full of free family entertainment with a little education thrown in.

Calling all teens! The Rancho Cordova Public Library is hosting a free Guitar Hero III and Dance Dance Revolution competition on Saturday, August 9th. If you think you’ve got what it takes and would like to challenge other teens in the area, show up at the library at 9845 Folsom Blvd. between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Food will be provided.

Directly following the Guitar Hero and DDR competition, the Library will be presenting the Insect Discovery Lab from 3 to 4 p.m. Kids are welcome to check out a variety of insects including millipedes, tarantulas, and scorpions. Experts will be on site to answer questions and discuss the importance of each insect in the web of life.
