Police Car Break In Results in Stolen Gun and Computer
On July 30th, a Sacramento County deputy came out of a training to find his car broken into, and his gun, his laptop, and his GPS system gone. While this is not unusual, Tim Curran, the Sheriffs spokesperson says police firearm theft occurs about once a year, many area residents may find this more than a little disturbing.
The un-named deputy had been assigned to an FBI task force and was attending a training class on the 10600 block of White Rock Road. Those attending the course were not allowed to bring weapons into the building and so the deputy returned the semi-automatic pistol to his vehicle.
The pistol was personal property of the deputy that he used while on duty. The laptop was property of the Sheriffs Department and did not contain any classified information. The stolen GPS system was also personal property of the deputy.
The Sheriff’s Department currently has no suspects.
